About Us

Many of the programs offered by The Teton Arts Council would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors. We greatly appreciate your support and participation. We are equally grateful for the countless members of our community that have stepped up to the plate to volunteer time, talent, and sometimes a little money of their own.

About Us

Art-Gallery-Reception-Fall2010-1The Community Arts Center is located at 110 Rodeo Road in Driggs, Idaho. While this building hosts two large classrooms and an office, our outreach in the community goes far beyond these walls.  Classes that focus on ceramics, drawing, painting, music, and dance are hosted here at the center. Classes, performances, workshops and community interaction happen at a wide variety of locations around the valley. Check our community calendar for a full listing of artistic events and happenings in and around the valley.

About Us

Linda Lopez, Chair

Visiting Teton Valley was never going to be enough for Linda and her partner Jim. After years of visiting the valley, they relocated in December of 2010 from Tucson, Arizona. A career with the city in Public Safety has given way to managing an art gallery in Driggs. MerLo, An Artists' Gallery opened in July 2011 and features local artists who draw their inspiration from the Tetons. Linda balanced her careet as a Systems Analyst with a dedication to pursue her own art education and graduated from the University of Arizona with a BFA degree emphasizing print-making. Her interest and exploration of that media continues along with pottery, book-making and practicing yoga.

Jim Merten, Vice Chair

After a 30 year career in Emergency Communication Operations with the City of Tucson, Arizona, Jim relocated to Teton Valley in December of 2010. He and his partner Linda soon became involved with the Teton Arts Council. While not an artist himself, Jim's appreciation of art ranges from music to literature to painting, with special interests in jazz of the 1930's through the 1960's, contemporary fiction, and 20th century American painters. He feels the promotion of the arts is a vital component of the character of a community and a neccessity for enriching the life of the individual.

Mona Kovalius Monroe, Secretary

Before moving fulltime to Teton Valley in the summer of 2010, Mona spent over 35 years working in human resources, most recently as Director of Human Resources for Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. She now spends her time enjoying life in beautiful Teton Valley and pursuing her passion and dream of working fulltime as a mixed media artist. Mona has been involved in community work throughout her professional career while in Oregon. Her non-profit experience includes serving on: the Board of Directors and Chair for the Center for Women and Gender Equity, the Board of Directors for Valley Art Association, the Board of Directors and Chair for West Tuality Child Care Center and on the Forest Grove City Public Arts Commission

Jennifer Moreland, Treasurer

Jennifer and her husband, Doug, moved from Charleston, South Carolina, to Teton Valley in 2007 to experience the immense beauty of the Teton Mountains. Jennifer and Doug are entrepreneuers, enjoying the creative process of starting businesses. While in Charleston, they started and operated a healthcare software business and a corporate wellness- management business. Jennifer brings to the Teton Arts Council a background of software engineering and leveraging technology to communicate, educate, and automate. She has been serving on the Board since 2008, served one term as Chair (2010-11) and is now serving as Treasurer and Grant Writer. She is inspired to see this grassroots arts community continually flowing through the multiple mediums and outlets. In her leisure time, Jennifer enjoys reading, beading, hiking, mountain biking, and skiing.

New Art Center

The Teton Arts Council is developing a plan for land improvement around the existing Arts Center on Rodeo Drive, Driggs. The land is currently unimproved area but could be so much more. The view of the Grand Teton is tremendous! Our goal for the land improvement will include an outdoor art park with space to hold gatherings, outdoor workshops, and small events. We would love to hear from our Members! Look for invitations to come out this summer and tell us what you think.

Our Mission

The mission of the Teton Arts Council is to develop, nurture, and celebrate our cultural life through education, performances, exhibitions, and community opportunities.

In 2007, we started the volunteer Resident Artists Program to plan, organize and execute the art programming. These volunteers are well-respected artists who give back to the Artist Community by ensuring that the arts classes and workshops continue to offer compelling and relevant education opportunities. If you are interested in volunteering as a Resident Artist, please contact the Board Chair by sending email to info@tetonartscouncil.com
